The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, or PCORI, has awarded UF with a $11.9 million award for a research study that will compare two forms of radiation therapy for prostate cancer — traditional X-ray therapy and proton therapy, which uses less radiation but costs more. Nancy Mendenhall, M.D., medical director of the UF Health Proton Therapy Institute, leads the team.
