March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month! #WearBlue Day
March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Dress in blue to help raise awareness for colon cancer and the importance of regular screenings to save lives. On March 2 (9 a.m.-2 p.m.), you can walk through a giant inflatable colon in the UF Health Shands Hospital atrium to see the various stages of the disease, check out the the daVinci Surgical System Robot and learn ways to prevent colon cancer including new screening tests.
UF Health nursing, clinical and administrative staff are also invited to participate in a “Best in Blue Spirit” competition to get the conversation started about cancer screenings. Decorate your work area, dye your hair blue for the day or dress up in blue to let your team’s spirit shine!
Submit your photos between March 1 – 10 to Jennifer West at WESTJL@shands.ufl.edu. Prizes include breakfast for you and your work group, coffee cards and a candy basket.
Join us for Link to Pink
The Link to Pink Gators gymnastics meet is Friday, Feb. 23, in the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. The Gator gymnastics team plays host to Arkansas at the meet, which is set to begin at 6:45 p.m. ET.

Danny’s Dream

Details: Dan DiNatale lost his battle to Ewing’s sarcoma on Oct. 5, 2016, after a heroic battle of more than four years. While his dreams of being a graphic designer were cut short, Dan’s parents Chuck and Sue, created the Danny’s Dream event to fund Ewing’s sarcoma research to ensure that other children and young adults facing this disease are able to fulfill their dreams. Danny’s Dream will benefit the Danny Fund at UF and fund much needed research into this rare cancer.
