Thank you for reading the February 2018 issue of our monthly member newsletter, UFHCC Connection. You can find our January issue here.
With a robust set of leaders, internal and external recruitment to the center, NCI and cancer-focused NIH funding of over $15 million per year, increasing translation of basic findings into clinical research, solid core facilities and exciting educational and community engagement programs in development, we are now poised to develop a strong application to the National Cancer Institute. The writing of this document has begun, with submission for an NCI Cancer Center Support Grant anticipated in the spring of 2019.
To this end, on March 1 and 2 we will be hosting a group of 11 recognized leaders in oncology research who constitute our External Advisory Board (EAB). Our EAB brings extensive experience and knowledge to bear on our behalf as we continue our quest for designation. The EAB convenes at least annually to assess our scientific progress toward the programmatic goals we have laid out in our Strategic Plan.
This will be the third such meeting — but it is unique because, for the first time in the center’s history, our EAB will be reviewing narratives we have written that make up the sections of the Cancer Center Support Grant.
This EAB visit is a true milestone in our quest for National Cancer Institute designation. Read more about the visit HERE.
