Julia Close, M.D.
Dr. Close won an APEX Grand Award in the category “Social Media – Best Single Blog Post” for her blog post “You Are Okay: Letting Go of Guilt, ‘Balance,’ and Impossible Expectations” published in ASCO Connection.

Elizabeth Shenkman, Ph.D.
Dr. Shenkman, along with six other principal investigators at four universities in the Southeast, received a multi-institutional grant of $12 million for a project titled “SouthEast Enrollment Center.”
Linda Cottler, Ph.D., MPH

Dr. Cottler, chair of the department of epidemiology in the University of Florida College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) and the UF College of Medicine, has been elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the Association for Clinical and Translational Science.

Steven J. Hughes, M.D., FACS
Dr. Hughes in the department of surgery has been recently named the Edward M. Copeland, III Professor and Chief of Surgical Oncology. He continues in his role as vice chair of general surgery.

Dr. Jobin has been globe-trotting in recent months, discussing the role of bacteria in cancer at International Human Microbiome Consortium Meeting 2018 and International Digestive Disease Forum.

Brian Law, Ph.D.
Dr. Law was chosen to receive one of five cancer research grants from the Ocala Royal Dames for Cancer Research, Inc. for his proposal “A new approach for eradicating metastatic, drug-resistant breast cancers.”
Susan Frost, Ph.D.
Dr. Frost was chosen to receive one of five cancer research grants from the Ocala Royal Dames for Cancer Research, Inc. for her proposal “Enhancing the cytotoxic effects of B-caryophyllene (BCP) using statin drugs as a combinatorial therapy for the treatment of breast cancer.”
