Congratulations to our 2018-2019 UFHCC USP Scholars!
The UF Health Cancer Center University Scholars Program provides a competitive, two-semester research opportunity introducing UF undergraduate students to academic research and providing cancer research experience in basic, clinical or population sciences.
Students self-select their research interests aligned with our Research Programs. Applicants are evaluated on their cancer interests and goals, academic qualifications, extracurricular activities/community service, letter of recommendation and overall quality of application.
Selected applicants are matched with UF Health Cancer Center mentors. 3-4 interns per research program are accepted annually. Scholars complete individual research projects, present their findings at a research symposium, and publish in a peer-reviewed journal.
Graduate students and post-doctoral trainees involved in cancer research serve as student guides, participating in teaching monthly research seminars that include laboratory demonstrations and career development lectures.
11 scholars were selected for the inaugural 2018 UF Health Cancer Center University Scholars Program: 2 in the Cancer Population Science Research Program, 5 in the Cancer Therapeutics & Host Response Research Program, and 4 in the Mechanisms of Oncogenesis Research Program.
