Dear Members,

I am writing to ask for your continued support of our Cancer Center. As you know, our application to the National Cancer Institute for cancer center designation came very close to the funding line. The reviewers were very impressed by the progress made over the past several years, and we have been strongly encouraged to reapply in the next two years. There is much work to do, but we remain steadfast in our commitment. Center IDCs from cancer-related research are crucial in helping us achieve our goal.

Since 2015, the Cancer Center has awarded 80 pilot and bridge grants, investing $4.4 million in your research which has generated 87 new publications and over $29 million in peer-reviewed funding. The Cancer Center has also made major investment in flow cytometry, sequencing and biostatistics to help your research efforts.

With this in mind, please direct your center indirect cost returns to the UF Health Cancer Center. We are asking each member to contribute the full 7.5% Center IDC to the Cancer Center. Recognizing that many may support other centers, we do ask your consideration of at least 3.75% center IDC. Several of you to date have not allocated all of the 7.5% of IDC that can be dedicated to a center, and we would ask that you add any unallocated amount to your Cancer Center contribution.

To update your IDC distributions, please follow these steps and notify us when you have made this change by emailing ResearchAdmin@cancer.ufl.edu. Our center designation is the University of Florida Health Cancer Center (ID: 10.0562). These IDC allocations need to be made before June 12, 2020, to ensure this revenue is included in our next annual distribution.
